Hello friends,

Just a quick reminder: our free Zoom community call is happening this Saturday, August 30th at 10 AM Eastern / 9 AM Central / 7 AM Pacific / 4 PM CET.

This gathering is a chance to come together in honor of the 20-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina—to remember the people and animals whose lives were forever changed, and to reflect on how far we’ve come in animal care and support since then.

On the morning of August 28, 2005, I helped evacuate 38 horses to the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, an hour inland from New Orleans. My big Percheron/Thoroughbred, Cali, didn’t trailer well, and as the barometric pressure sank, her anxiety rose. Still, we managed to get everyone loaded and moved to safety.

I returned to my home in Uptown New Orleans around 4 PM to pack: my Nana’s paintings, my mom’s quilts, dog food, and a folder of insurance papers—because we all thought we’d be back in just a few days. In reality, it took almost two years to rebuild my home. I truly don’t think I could have made it through without Jin Shin Jyutsu.

On Saturday’s call, we’ll begin with some gentle JSJ centering for ourselves, then extend the work to the animals. There will be time for sharing, questions, and conversation as we celebrate resilience, compassion, and the growing community we continue to build together. We’ll also look ahead at how this work is spreading—and how you can be part of it.
